I spent a beautiful morning in a Noblesville meadow with Kaylee and her dog, creating brand photos for her grooming business. It was the kind of session where everyone quickly relaxed, the dog had the best morning of her life, and it hardly felt like work.
If you have never considered professional brand photography for your small business, there is a good reason I encourage it. When someone is deciding whether to trust you with their dog, their child, their home, or anything else that matters to them, they want to see the person behind the business. A logo or generic stock photo cannot show them who will actually arrive, how they work, or what it might feel like to hire them.
Kaylee has such an easy, calming presence with animals. My goal was to create photographs that communicated that naturally, without requiring her to explain it.
We began in the meadow while her dog was still full of morning energy. We photographed them walking together, along with a few portraits and natural interactions that showed Kaylee’s calm, easy presence with animals.
That is a large part of my approach to brand and storytelling photography. I provide direction when it is needed, but I am not constantly posing every movement or telling people exactly where to place their hands. I leave room for genuine expressions and interactions while staying ready to photograph the moments that best represent the person behind the business.
Later, we headed down to the creek, where we photographed several of Kaylee’s grooming tools arranged along the rocks and creek bed. Her clippers, shears, and spray bottle added details that connected the outdoor setting to her work as a professional pet groomer without making the photographs feel overly styled or formal.
One of my favorite parts of the session came when Kaylee tied a bandana around her dog’s neck. Her dog gave her a wonderfully expressive look, creating a small moment that showed the personality and connection between them. It was simple, natural, and exactly the kind of interaction I love capturing.
The morning light filtering through the trees by the creek was beautiful. Her dog walked straight into the water, splashed around, and gave us the inevitable full-body shake. In the middle of it all, there was a quiet moment when Kaylee and her dog reached toward one another. It is one of the photographs from the session that I continue to come back to.
The finished gallery reflects the way that morning felt: warm, bright, relaxed, and genuine. I kept the colors natural, the greens soft, and the skin tones true so the photographs would feel polished without losing their authenticity.
Why Brand Photography Matters for Small Businesses
If you own a small business in Central Indiana, you are one of your brand’s most valuable marketing tools. People want to know who you are, understand what matters to you, and feel confident about choosing you.
A professional brand session gives you a versatile collection of photographs for your website, social media, advertisements, and other marketing materials. More importantly, it gives prospective clients an honest look at the person and story behind the business.
Kaylee left her session with warm, genuine photographs that show who she is and the calm, comfortable way she interacts with animals. Now, her prospective clients can see some of that for themselves before they ever place their dog in her care.
I photograph brand and storytelling sessions throughout Central Indiana, including Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield, Carmel, and the surrounding communities. If you have been considering professional photography for your own small business, I would love to help you create images that feel true to you and the work you do.
